It's been a long time since I posted! This is probably a good opportunity to share a little bit of my horticultural work with you, since that's what I've mostly been focused on these past two months.
I recently took a position as an Urban Horticulture Extension Assistant in the Horticulture Department at North Carolina State University teaching online plant ID courses in partnership with Longwood Gardens. Plant ID was my favorite subject as a student, and my favorite subject to teach as a TA during my graduate work, so I'm very excited about this position. Here's a link to the classes I'm teaching: https://extensiongardener.ces.ncsu.edu/online-non-credit-courses/
We'll be adding some others as well. Classes started two weeks ago, and it's been really fun so far. I love how a plants and gardening can bring together people of incredibly diverse backgrounds. I have students of all ages, professional backgrounds, and walks of life. Another one of my favorite aspects of horticulture is how it's the perfect blend of art and science. I find that working with plants is very therapeutic, and stimulates my creative side.
I think I'll keep it short and sweet for now, but I'm looking forward to working on some new photos and exhibit submissions. I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy!
